For women who do it all... here's to a new kind of pause

They tell us to always look at our cup half full, but they don’t warn us about a life becoming too full - full of tight schedules, responsibilities, and endless juggling. Days blur together, packed with to-do lists, scheduled appointments, and messages waiting for a reply. The weeks race by, the years disappear in a blink, the kids grow up before your eyes... and somewhere in between, you wonder: what’s left for me?

So you sit down in the evening, longing to exhale, unwind, and quiet the constant chatter in your mind.

For years, we reached for a glass of wine to mark that transition. It felt like the simplest way to shift from doing to being. But for me, somewhere along the way, alcohol stopped feeling like the pause I needed. It left me restless instead of relaxed. The hangovers got worse. The headaches lingered longer into the Sunday afternoon.

After years of not drinking - through pregnancy and nursing - it simply lost its appeal. And through countless conversations, I’ve realized I’m not the only one feeling this way.

From Hustle to Slow Evenings

For 15 years, I built my career in a fast-paced corporate world, negotiating deals and working on projects covered in the Financial Times. I knew how to push forward, perform, deliver at all cost, and keep up. But I also learned the hard way what happens when you never slow down. So after yet another stressful work weekend, full of angry emails and me being checked out at home... I decided to finally make a change and put a bet on myself. I moved with my family to the Swiss countryside, and set out to create something different. This is where my second daughter was born, our lives slowed down & I decided to take a turn to the unknown....

A New Kind of Evening Ritual

In those early days of motherhood, I craved an evening ritual - something bold, complex, and satisfying, but without the alcohol. So in my kitchen, with my second daughter strapped to my chest, I started blending aronia, blackcurrant, juniper, warming spices and herbs from my garden, searching for a drink that felt as intentional as the pause I was learning to take.

I shared my early batches with friends, tweaking and refining, until it became what it is today: Moon & June - a sparkling, alcohol-free aperitif designed for slow sipping.

More Than a Drink - An Invitation to Rest

Through my own journey, I’ve seen so many women juggle work, family, and expectations, all while feeling the pressure to keep everything running smoothly. Beneath it all, we just want a real pause - to unwind, breathe, and be present. That’s my mission: to inspire rest - to let go of what no longer serves us, whether it’s alcohol, the constant hustle, or impossible beauty standards.

I’ve been documenting my journey on Instagram and I’d love for you to join me there. But I also know that, for many of us, social media feels more draining than enriching. That’s why I decided to launch this blog - a space where thoughts don’t need to be squeezed into 30-second reels, and where we can connect without the noise of trolling comments.

I cannot wait to get on this journey and I would be honored to have you by my side.

Best,

Joanna
